How does Spinal Decompression work?

The theory behind spinal decompression is a process whereby forces are applied to the spine in a manner that maximizes spinal elongation. Spinal elongation is maximized when paraspinal muscles, the muscles that guard the spine from injury, are relaxed, allowing the un-bulging of discs and relief of pressure from nerves.

What's the difference between traction and TRUE Spinal Decompression?

While many people believe that traction and decompression are synonymous it is important to note there is a VAST difference. While traction is non specific and is essentially pulling the top from the bottom, TRUE spinal decompression is very specific. Based on MRI findings we are able to augment the angle of pull to mathematically match the angle of the disc we want to target. This allows for a much more gentle treatment with less muscle soreness and faster results.

How do I know if Spinal Decompression is right for me?

Spinal decompression is safe for most patients and is especially helpful when drugs and surgery are poor options. In your initial consultation you'll receive a complete examination and your medical history will be reviewed to make sure there are no conditions that could cause problems. (This may not be the best option for patients with advanced osteoporosis, pregnancy, obesity and/or extensive nerve damage.)
